Want to know one of the most empty words in business today?

Strategy.

In so many executive meetings, it’s often operational tactics that take center stage. And to be honest, when it comes to market strategy sessions, if you look around the room, many people are doing “real” work … like responding to emails … when they should be using their high-priced brains to solve more abstract problems.

Positioning, in my view, is one of the most important things we as leaders can spend our time on. But, damn, is it hard. And often, even when we do get it right, we don’t spend the time to strategize on operationalizing it.

Welcome to High Intent, where we explore unfiltered lessons from the frontlines of modern marketing. I’m your host Justin Rubner. My next guest, Joel Alpert, has three decades of experience helping companies act with more strategy as a consultant and fractional CMO.

You could call him the Chief Lightbulb of MarketPower — a consultancy that focuses on business strategy, branding,  positioning, and rebranding.

His passion is making sure that companies have a clear compass to guide their direction. I’ve served on several marketing webinars with him, and he always has bright ideas and tips for becoming more strategic.
